The calm of a plank floor
A plank floor lets the interior do the work. Where herringbone draws attention to the floor, a plank floor stays in the background — useful when you have an outspoken sofa, kitchen or artwork in the room.
The longer the plank, the calmer the look
Long planks mean fewer end joints per square metre, and so a calmer floor. Our Grande collection runs to 1,524 mm, making it the best choice for large open rooms and open-plan kitchens.

What plank sizes does Calitex offer?
Three formats: 1,200 × 228 mm (Diamonds, Wood, Originals), 1,524 × 228 mm XL (Grande and La Bella Maison dry-back) and 610 × 150 mm in a few Originals designs.
Is a plank floor faster to lay than herringbone?
Yes, roughly twice as fast. You work row by row with a staggered bond, and only cut at the start and end of each row. Allow 5% cutting waste.
Which direction should I lay the planks?
The rule of thumb: lay planks along the length of the room, or in the direction of the light from the largest window. That makes the joints less visible and the room look longer.
