Self-adhesive or MDF?

Self-adhesive skirting is finished with a film in the same design as the floor. You stick it to the wall without drilling or painting — done in an hour, and the transition from floor to wall disappears. Ideal if you want the floor to carry on visually.

MDF skirting comes primed and ready to paint. Choose white and you get the classic look where the skirting belongs to the woodwork rather than the floor. In black, the same board gives a crisp architectural line.

Choosing the height

Our MDF skirting comes in 78 mm and 100 mm. Rule of thumb: the higher the ceiling, the taller the skirting can be. With standard 2.60 m ceilings, 78 mm looks right; in period properties of 3 m or more, 100 mm is better proportioned.

Skirting weighs little but travels separately if you order it later. Add it directly to your floor order — then everything arrives in one delivery and you pay shipping once.

Which skirting suits my LVT floor?

Our self-adhesive skirting is finished with the same films as our LVT designs, so it matches seamlessly. If you want contrast or a crisp modern look instead, choose white or black MDF.

How much skirting do I need?

Measure the perimeter of the room and subtract the doorways. Add 10% for mitres and cutting waste. Our MDF skirting comes in bundles of 5 × 2.4 m — 12 linear metres per bundle.

Should I screw or glue the skirting?

Self-adhesive skirting sticks with the applied tape or with assembly adhesive, no drilling. MDF skirting you glue with assembly adhesive or screw and finish with acrylic. Screwing holds better on an uneven wall.

Why do I need skirting at all?

A floating floor needs a 5 mm expansion gap all round in order to move. The skirting covers that gap. Without it you see the joint, and dirt can get under the floor.
